20 GQS receives BREEAM Excellent

The apartments at 20 Great Queen Street, developed by Hardwick + Hepburn, have received an ‘Excellent’ BREEAM sustainability rating.

This tremendous achievement is the result of the special efforts made by our joint partners, collaborators and the Hardwick + Hepburn led design team. To reach this status all aspects of the development were considered, including the management of construction, opportunities to enhance the health and wellbeing of the occupants, and reduction in waste throughout construction. The project was complex, featuring refurbishment of the existing period property and creation of a new build extension.

The optimisation of the sustainability offering of the development can be seen through good daylighting levels, the specification of low VOC finishing products, and the installation of efficient water components. The development benefits from renewable energy in the form of air source heat pumps and solar PVs, which serve to reduce the carbon emissions from the dwellings. Energy efficient lighting and appliances have also been installed to seek further reductions in energy use throughout the building.
